This poster series of “modern saints” is based on the traditional depiction of Christian saints. Each poster deals with a relevant social theme/problem. The content is being discussed in an ambivalent manner as for topics like globalisation, climate change, financial crisis and torture aren´t put for a simple point of view.
Christian saints have suffered a great loss of importance in our society. Many of their former functions such protection, consolation, being an idol, guidance etc. have maybe passed nowadays to insurancies, doctors, politicians, pop-idols …
As it was the rule that someone can only be canonized 50 years after his or her death, naturally there appear some “responsibility-gaps” for new developments such as diseases, threats and woes. So the question is: Which current topics could need new saints?
